Child, IPad

Ryan says, "I wish we could have another kid. We should adopt a BOY my age who loves to play soccer and likes soccer jerseys."

Lauren says, "Well if we do that, then I get a.....iPAD.

Really?

No, we are not adopting, and you are not getting an iPAD!

"I don't know how I would choose"

I am officially a terrible blogger. I'll just get that out there. It's been almost a year! Crazy.

But, I have a few things I don't want to forget....so I'm adding them here. I hope to go back and cover some of the last year in future blog posts....but there's no guarantee!

So...on with my story.

In early August, Ryan had a soccer tournament in Broomfield. Mark has a college friend who lives there, and called him. We've never seen him, and the kids don't know him. He said,"sure, stop on by, but it's just the 2 of us...we don't have the kids this weekend."

As it turns out, he and his wife were both married previously, each have kids from those marriages, divorced, and share custody with the exs. This was the weekend the kids were with their other parents.

Ryan and Lauren had a really hard time understanding this...especially Lauren! So, in the bathroom at the soccer field she starts asking me questions...and I'm trying to explain that the parents don't live with each other anymore, and they married a new person, and now the kids have more people who love them....etc.

That night, she says to me, "Mommy, I just don't know how I could choose.".I wasn't sure what she was talking about. "I don't know how I could choose between living with you or with Daddy." Then I know.

"I mean.....Daddy plays with us, but you...."  I seriously was holding my breath here, imaging what she was going to say........perhaps, you cook for us, you clean my guinea pig's cage, you are always on your computer, you make us do our homework, you drive us places, you buy us things. I was really interested in how this was going to turn out.

And, she said, "Daddy plays with us, but you make me feel happy."

Phew! And now I'm trying not to cry! I tell her that she will never have to choose, and I love making her feel happy. Ahhh, a good mom moment I had to write down before it gets burried by other not-so -good mom moments!
