July 2012: Colorado summer fun

July can mostly be defined by extended family. We really enjoyed spending time with family and the kids enjoyed spending time with their cousins, which is really important to us! Once a year or 2 isn’t enough time to get to know them!

·      My mom and her 2 dogs lived with us for the month of July, staying in the basement guest room while she looked for a place to rent. We stored her things in our garage for the month.

A visit to the Botanical Gardens at Chatfield

·       My nephew, Shep, was playing in a Little League State championship, so we were able to attend some of his games and visit with my brother Eric, his wife Krista and Carson and Foster, which was nice! We also made it to one of Carson's baseball games!

·       We spent 4th of July at a BBQ at Mike and Camille's house.

·       We saw Nancy often and she introduced the kids to golf, and she and Gary took the kids golfing a few times.

·       We were able to see Jack play hockey a couple times! And, Mark and Mike took the kids biking up Waterton Canyon, and tubing in Golden.

Ryan tells the story of how he was "charged by the Ram" (on the left side of the trail!)

·       Mark's Dad, Steve, came out and spent almost a week with us, hiking and biking. One day, we even hiked up St. Mary's Glacier. No kidding. I thought we were going to stop at the lake below the glacier....and then I thought we were going to stop at the bottom of the glacier and touch it. But no, we continued....all the way up the entire thing and beyond so we could see the Continental Divide! Wow! Ryan and Lauren really hung in there....and so did I!

Mark, Ryan and Grandpa Steve biked on the trails near our home.

The glacier is behind the lake. Often, the lake is the destination. Not for us!
